Old Caboose  Contributor's Pick!
This caboose is located in downtown Elk Horn IA. I thought that this was a fake rr but it turns out there was a "Atlantic Nothern Railroad" and a "Atlantic Southern Railroad" listed in defunct Iowa railroads. The line appears to have been abandonded since approximately 1934. IF this is one of their cabooses then time has been very kind!

Nick Haley General I live in the town to the east of elk horn and I can tell you that this was not their caboose, but the depot behind it was their depot it has been moved twice in the past. The northern part ran from Atlantic to kimbolton, the town to the north. The Atlantic southern ran down to villisca. They had the northern had one Rhode island class a1 4-4-0 but I haven't found any pictures of it. They had a gas motor "trolley" that is supposedly burried somewhere south of elk horn. 1/24/2018 8:50:18 PM
